Explanation for "The secret"

The Secret, a film produced by Prime Time Productions, consists of a series of interviews and dramatizations related to "The Law of Attraction". As put forth in the film, the "Law of Attraction" principle suggests that people's feelings and thoughts attract real events in the world into their lives; from the workings of the cosmos to interactions among individuals in their physical, emotional, and professional affairs. The film also suggests that there has been a strong tendency by those in positions of power to keep this central principle hidden from the public.

The film encourages the viewer to see "the Universe [as] 'a catalog' that we can flip through and shop. The Secret lists three required steps — "ask, believe, receive" — as the essence of the Law of Attraction.

Thus, according to the "The Secret", if we are to be the masters of our destinies, we must

1) Control our thoughts and feelings
2) Ask - Clearly imagine and articulate what we want to attract into our lives
3) Believe - That we have gotten it and act as if it were so

The mind cannot control its thoughts. It can control thoughts as much as a computer can control the instructions that it processes. The mind can only be controlled by a higher awareness that observes the mind and its thoughts through meditation.

The first step towards making something real is to imagine it. We cannot create something that we cannot even imagine. Hence, we must imagine, articulate and ask.

Believing and having faith that we will receive is tough. As our belief becomes stronger, the process works better. If we do not believe, we will not receive. This is an iterative process.

The belief can come from Knowledge of the Universal self. If we know the truth of the universal self, believing that the universe will give you whatever you ask of it is easy. After all, the universe is but a part of you.
