Harmony with nature

The universe is but a part of us. To realize this truth, one has harmonize the self with the universe and nature. The waves of the ocean is a natural phenomenon that is easily observable. There is something about the ocean waves - the sights and sounds that makes us feel at peace and harmony with nature. When we breathe and observe our breath, the sounds are similar to the sounds of the ocean waves. One way to realize harmony with nature is to synchronize our breathing patterns to the waves. Another is to enter the water at about knee deep, place our hands on the ground for support, and allow your body to be taken along with the waves. The only action we perform would be to balance the body. Then the actions would be governed by nature rather than by personal motive. This exercise tunes our actions to nature and conditions us for Karma yoga (performing actions without motive).

"the secret" and the bhagavad gita

"the secret" book mentions that "thoughts are things". What we think about, we attract to ourselves. what we think, we become. Specifically, it is suggested that we think thoughts of what we want to become or attract to ourselves before going to sleep, because the last thought before falling asleep stays in the subconscious and repeats during sleep. In the bhagavad gita, Krishna says that whatever man thinks of at the time of death, he will attain in his next life. If he thinks of Krishna, he will come straight to Krishna. The 'last thought' before sleep as well as before death is thus significant. Both books stress the power of thoughts, and the power of the subconscious to manifest reality.
